How to Apply Autoglym UHD Ceramic Coating
1. Clean and prepare the paintwork
Wash your vehicle thoroughly, dry it completely and remove any remaining contaminants using a suitable fallout remover or clay bar. For the best results, polish away light scratches and swirl marks before applying the coating.
2. Prepare the surface
Apply UHD Preparation Fluid to the Preparation Cloth and wipe the paintwork systematically in straight lines. Remove any remaining residue with a clean, dry section of the cloth. This essential step removes existing waxes, sealants and oils, helping the ceramic coating bond effectively to the paintwork.
3. Apply the ceramic coating
Work on one section at a time, ideally around 50 × 50 cm. Using the supplied Ceramic Coating Applicator, spread a small amount of product evenly across the paintwork in straight lines.
4. Allow the coating to flash off
As the coating begins to evaporate, small beads and a developing film will appear. This typically takes around 1–2 minutes in warmer conditions or 3–5 minutes in cooler conditions. Use the first panel to establish the appropriate timing for the remaining paintwork, as temperature and humidity can affect drying time.
5. Buff to a high-gloss finish
Once the coating has flashed off, buff the treated area thoroughly with the supplied Finishing Cloth. Repeat the process panel by panel, checking the paintwork under different lighting conditions and re-buffing any missed areas.
6. Allow the coating to cure
Keep the vehicle protected from wet weather, excessive dust and contamination for at least 4 hours while the coating cures. Do not wash the vehicle for 24 hours after application.
Important Application Advice
Autoglym UHD Ceramic Coating is designed exclusively for exterior painted surfaces. Do not apply it to glass, plastic or matt paintwork. Remove any excess product from glass or plastic with UHD Preparation before it dries. Avoid allowing the coating to cure for too long before buffing, as this can make residue more difficult to remove.
